5 Things Your Friends are Tired of Hearing
By: The Editor
You have a quiz in Accounting on Monday, a report due on Thursday, an extra-curricular activity on your free day, and your scheduled NSTP on Sunday. You are swimming in the sea of workloads, yet even in your three-hour sleep, your practice sets are haunting you. You are about to breakdown any second now –one, two, three…
1 message received:
Chill after your class. G?
You collapse on the floor and cry. How can my friends still manage to have social lives? And for the nth time, you reply:

1. “I have to review for my quizzes.”
This is the most cliché statement you have ever told your friends. Sometimes you wonder whether they still believe you, and you hope that they still do. You are about to lose your mind because of stress, and you wouldn’t want to lose them, too.
2. “I have a meeting.”
Ever since you joined your org, you already reserved your Tuesdays for meetings. Unfortunately, your cell group is also scheduled on Tuesdays. So you try to juggle work and church, church and work, churk and wurch. Wait, what?
3. “We have a practice.”
A PLMayer, or a JPIAn for that matter, is inherently talented. You, for instance, are an example. So whenever there are events inside or outside the school, you are your “Block’s Alay”. Your friends are getting used to your absence, but you assure them of your next-times and bawi-ako promises.
4. “Wala akong time for food. Kayo na lang.”
Nope, you’re not on a diet. But Tax is being taxing; you cannot afford to lose a minute not studying. So your friends are teasing you by sending you pictures of their food or uploading their happy moments in Instagram. Yep, that’s them. Without you. Aww.
5. “I have so many things to do, I haven’t even taken a bath, yet.”
‘Nuff said.
You entered college full of dreams and life and cherries and strawberries and truffles – what happened now? Really, there’s nothing wrong with taking a breather sometimes. You need friends when everything around you is already overwhelming. You need friends when the cares of this world are already unbearable. You need friends when you feel like you’re not being good enough. As Henry Van Dyke puts it, “A friend is what the heart needs all the time.”
So the next time they ask you to go out but you’ve got a quiz the next day?
DON’T GO. STUDY. HARD.

Al perderte yo a ti, tú y yo hemos perdido:
yo, porque tú eras lo que yo más amaba;
