Transcending beyond the boundaries, delegates from PLM-JPIA emerged triumphantly in the Annual National Convention (ANC) held at Hotel Domique, Tagaytay City, May 1-4, 2016.
“NFJPIA - NCR proved the country once again why we are the capital of the Philippines by showing outstanding performance at the recently concluded ANC at Tagaytay.” - a statement from Jerwin Dave Patacsil, NFJPIA-NCR President 2015-2016.
During the said convention, Arielle Ann Alipio (4-2) was hailed as the Champion for the Investigative Writing – English whereas Reuben Ace Abayabay (4-1) clutched the 1st runner-up spot in News Writing – English. Both of them also joined the Editorial Writing Competition wherein Alipio emerged as the 2nd placer (Filipino) and Abayabay as the 3rd placer (English). As a team, Alipio and Abayabay also secured a spot as Finalists in the Extemporaneous Speaking Tournament.
When asked about the experience in competing for a National competition, Abayabay said that, "Representing the region [NCR] is a great honor. Kudos to NFJPIA-NCR Council for believing (and risking) in me. Winning, that I owe to God. It was yet another undeserved gift from Him. Nagulat talaga ako."
Other delegates who also showed utmost performance were: Elison Brax Ferreras (4-2), who managed to be a Finalist in the Kalokalike 2016 contest and Gene Albert Alvaro (4-4) who was elected as the Vice-President for Finance.
Apart from the competitions, the ANC with the theme: “Reaching Greater Heights, Tagumpay mo, Tagumpay ng JPIA” also featured Company Talks given by SGV, Deloitte, KPMG and P&A.
