Through a burning passion and ardent spirit, PLM-JPIA once again emerged victorious in the 9th Annual Grand Summit (AGS) held at Plaza del Norte, Ilocos Norte last April 18-21, 2016. Academics: During the 1st Alliance Cup held on the first day of the summit,Kenneth Paul Dalusong and Angelie Marie Siggaoat (4-3) clutched the 1st and 3rd place respectively. The Alliance Cup is a competition wherein the delegates from different chapters are grouped together. The Cup has two parts, namely the Indoor Team Building and the Quiz Bee Proper. The first part which is the team building incorporates the concept of the pass-the-message game whereas the Quiz Bee Proper tackles Accounting-related theories and problems specifically board exam questions. |
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). I know God is with us when we answered those questions. I'm very thankful to my teammates from UE-Caloocan and PUP-Manila for giving their best in that contest. Congratulations, JPIA-PLM!!! To God be the glory!!!” said Dalusong when asked about his experience in competing for the championship.
Dalusong and Siggaoat, together with Michael Arian Argana (3-1), also joined the NCR Quiz show wherein they managed to secure a spot in the Top 10 Finalists. Furthermore, another academic event participated by the delegates was the NCR Quiz Show wherein the team of John Vincent Castro, Rikki Mae Tamayo (3-3), and Renz Alexis Ocampo (4-4), succeeded to be a part of the Top 10 Finalists.
Non-Academics:
Held on the first day of the summit, our delegates from the Red Team namely Michael Arian Argana, Sabrina Salazar (3-1), Renz Alexis Ocampo (4-4), Rhommielle Antawn Rivera (3-3), finished as 2nd Placers in the Amazing Race. Meanwhile, from the Yellow Team, Jonathan Caraang (3-1) and Gabby Recto (3-3) finished the race as 3rd Placers.
On the other hand, in the field of Dubsmash and Lip Sync, Argana was hailed as the Champion of the AGS and Funny One whereasVincent Castro (3-3) was declared as the 2nd Runner-Up and given the title of the Best in Lip Sync Battle. Argana also joined the So I Think I Can Dance competition wherein he and Recto rendered a duo dance that made them land on the 1st Runner-Up spot.
Meanwhile, during the NCR’s Next Top Model ft. NCR Project Runway, Rivera and Caraang, along with Bea Gale Torres and Arvin Kaye Velez (4-3), ramped up the stage as models for PLM’s House of Invictus, which was declared as the Best Fashion House for Rock and Runway wherein Torres was awarded as Ms Photogenic.
And lastly, in the Mr. and Ms. Colors (MMC) Pageant, Jeannevere Frances Garcia (3-3) was crowned as the 1st Runner-Up, KPMG’s Choice, and Best in Creative Wear while Ellis Caoile (3-3) was given the award for Best in Long Gown.
Garcia said that, “To be part of the MMC wasn't really my choice but I sure did enjoy the experience. For me, showing confidence in a man's clothes was challenging and fun at the same time. Socializing with other contestants was my favourite part of the contest.”
On the other hand, Caoile shared that, “Being part of Mr. and Ms. Colors was a privilege as I was able to show and express my heart and soul during the competition. I wasn't lucky enough to win everything but I won not just an award, but friends and memories I will keep for the rest of my life. Kudos to the organizers for making an event that helped showcase the real beauty and purity of people from the third sex.”
Other delegates who were awarded for their remarkable performance of duties and obligations in the JPIA-NCR were Reuben Ace Abayabay (Host of the Year, 4-1), Leonel Brandon Acosta (Most Outstanding Regional Associate, 4-3), Gene Albert Alvaro(Outstanding Regional Officer, 4-3). Acosta was also given the NFJPIA-NCR Leadership Excellence Award along with Carmela Joyce Badajos (4-3) and Hanna Marielle Calacat (4-1).
The Annual Grand Summit marks the end of the federation year. It serves as the recognition rite for all the NCR-JPIANs who devoted their time and effort for the success of this region. Also, as this year’s theme suggests, “JPIA: Undone as One”, it binds this region as delegates from different chapters are gathered and united.
